OpenXR Polish, Score Balance, and Meta Quest Approval

Since our last update, Fly Exterminator has moved from Early Access prep into a tighter polish and platform pass as we target July 31, 2026 on Meta Store.

Here is what we shipped and what we are working on now:

OpenXR port

The OpenXR migration is mostly complete. Moving off Oculus-specific APIs was a big engineering lift, but the game now runs on a more standard mixed-reality stack—and we are in a much better place to support additional Meta Quest headsets going into Early Access.

Quality-of-life improvements

We landed several QOL improvements across the build, including tutorial skipping for returning players who already know the core loop and want to jump straight into a run.

Time Survival improvements

Time Survival got a balance pass—we changed how the mode scales over time so difficulty ramps more cleanly and sessions feel better paced from the first swat through the final seconds.

Score normalization

Arcade score chasing only works if modes feel comparable, so we are normalizing score curves across modes. The goal is for different game types to produce similar score ranges, making leaderboard comparisons and personal bests easier to read at a glance.

Lifetime stats

We are adding lifetime stats so players can track progress beyond a single session—total flies swatted, cumulative score, and other long-term milestones that reward repeat play.

Meta Quest approval

We are working on getting the game approved for Meta Quest. This is our first time through Meta’s release process, so we are taking the time to learn the steps, submit the right materials, and respond to feedback carefully rather than rushing a build we are not confident in.

Follow along

We will share more as approval and launch get closer.
